Wisconsin opens meat processor grant program

Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection opened the meat processor grant application window Thursday.

Ag Secretary Randy Romanski says the program allows processors to apply for up to 50-thousand dollars in matching grants.  “It’s getting grant funding out into the hands of processors to expand their operation, add capacity, and it creates an opportunity for modernization and innovation.”

Romanski says the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee recently released the 200-thousand dollars for each of the next two years.
