USDA reduces wheat crop outlook

The USDA made a larger than expected cut to its 2021 U.S. wheat production estimate following downward adjustments for both winter and spring wheat. Both crops have seen significant impacts from drought conditions in portions of the U.S. Plains.

All wheat production is estimated at 1.646 billion bushels, a decline of more than 51 million from August and more than 182 million from 2020, with an average yield of 44.3 bushels per acre, down fractionally on the month and 5.4 on the year.
