May 16th
The 6th annual TACS trek will be held Friday May 16 from 4pm-12pm at the Tomah Fairgrounds.    Gates open at 4pm.     Starting at 5pm the Wilton Legion will be selling barbecue chicken dinners ($7.00)    Tomah Lioness will serve hot dogs and barbecue.  Luminary sales, silent auction, bake sale, there will be t-shirts for sale, celebrity dunk  tank, and raffles.   There will be music by Chatterbox
May 17th
The 3rd Annual Jim Thielen Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 17th.  To register your team, please call VA Voluntary Service at 608-372-1727.  Play begins at 10 am with a shot-gun start and the tournament will be set up for either two-or four-person teams.  The tournament fee is $20 per person, which includes a picnic lunch.  For another $5, a caddy will be provided.  Individuals interested in volunteering at the Veterans Golf Course are encouraged to call VA Voluntary Services at 608-372-1727.

Parent Connection:  Parent connection welcomes Moms, Dads, Grandparents & Caregivers who are looking for a place to unwind and share the joys and challenges of parenting with other parents.  Connect over coffee and conversation while toddlers and preschoolers play in our supervised playroom.  Parent Connection will meet on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Sparta Butterfest Sand Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, June 7th begining at 9am at the Sparta memorial Park Sand Volleyball Courts (across from Barney Community Center).  Tentative Tournment Format: Round Robin pool play on four available courts, followed by championshop and consolation playoffs determined by standings.  Awards will be cash payouts to top finishes.  Maximim teams allowed : up to as many as 24 teams.  Deadline: Friday May 30th.  Team Entry in $75.

June 8th
The 11th annual Sparta Butterfest Quilt Show needs  your quilts for the show to be held on June 7th & June 8th.
Show hours are 10am to 5pm, Saturday and Noon to 4pm, Sunday.

Location is 900 E. Montgomery St, Sparta, in the Maplewood School.  Admission is Free; doorprizes will be drawn at the close of the show and winners will be notified.  

Awards will be given in 7 categories.  Call 608-269-4826 and ask for Sherry for more information.

A Stained glass quilting demonstration will be held Saturday, June 7th at 2pm.

Quilt registration is Friday, June 6th from 3pm to 6pm.  Quilts are to be picked up between 4pm to 5pm Sunday, June 8th.

Quilts of any size or function, such as tablerunner, pillow, bedquilt, wall hanging, may be entered and those submitted over 5 years ago may be reentered.

June 13th
Scenic Hills H.O.P.E.Walk will be held on Friday, June13th from 6 pm to 11pm at the Hillsboro High School Track. 

This walk keeps funds raised for cancer in the local area.  Our mission is to Aid our local communities, assist cancer patients, provide education and fund cancer research.

June 13th and June 14th

Friday night, Curb/Asylum recording artist  Heidi Newfield (formerly of Trick Pony), will be the main headliner with Geoff Landon & The Wolfpack opening at 7:30 PM. Tickets for Friday night are $25 per person for outdoor/grass area and $30 per ticket for arena area. Kids 12 & under can get into the grass area only for $10. Both areas are to be arena style. Chairs and blankets are welcome outside. There is a limited amount of tickets for Friday night, so please reserve your tickets early.

 On Saturday, we will have a trail ride / walk-a-thon at 10 am and at 1 PM there will be a calf scramble, sawdust pile & prizes for the kids. JT’s Bar & Grill will be serving great food & drinks both nights. Mike Mc Abe & Tim & the Floppy Cowboys will be playing in the beer & food tent; The Cheap Charlie Band will play from 1-3 PM; The Back Home Boys will play from 4-8 PM and Geoff Landon & the Wolfpack will play from 9PM – 1Am. Tickets for Saturday’s entertainment will be a $10 cover charge per person  with kids 12 & under getting in for $5 with all proceeds going to St. Judes. This is open to the general public and we encourage every one to come. You don’t even have to like horses to enjoy it!!

We would like to say a special, "Thank You" to all of our great sponsors and Geoff Landon & The Wolfpack in 2007!!! We have raised over $4,650 for St Jude!!! We appreciate the support that you have given in the past and your support in the future, but most importantly the children at St Jude's appreciate it even more!!
