BEN & ARNIE---WEEKDAYS 6-10AM
Who is Arnie...
I want to say “thank you.” I know there are choices in which station you listen to and the fact that you choose COW97 is just great! Call the COW lines anytime. This is your station and I feel privileged to be a part of your day!
Arnie has been nominated for 3 of the last 4 years by the CMA & 2 times by the ACM for Personality of The Year, and named Best Morning Show by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association 5 times.
Who is Jason…
This year marks my 11th year in radio but COW97 is my first full-time position. I attended Brown College in Minneapolis and learned this business called radio. I come to COW97 by way of Oshkosh, WI where I grew up in the heart of Packer country and I am no different. I am a Packer and Badger fan tried and true.
I am passionate about music including Country. Some of my favorite artists are George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, and Brad Paisley but I also listen to everything from classic rock to 90’s pop…..please, don’t judge me!
I am looking forward to experiencing all that COW97 has to offer and learning about the beautiful area around the station. I also look forward to meeting the great COW97 listeners.
Fun Facts About Jason…
Interesting Fact About Me…My name can be spelled by taking the first letter of 5 months of the year. July, August, September, October, November. I have a lot of free time on my hands.
Favorite Sports Team…Packers and Badgers. Don’t bother me on Saturdays in fall if I’m watching a Badger football game.
What Did I Want To Be Growing Up? Growing up is a term I use very loosely as I’m never going to totally grow up. I went through the normal little boy stages. I wanted to be a police officer for about a week. Then I wanted to be a construction worker. And after high school, I knew I wanted to be doing something interesting and fun where I could make a difference. So here I am.
CLARY HARRIS--NEWS DIRECTOR
--SPORTS DIRECTOR--ADAM ROBERTS
Who is Adam...
I come from the faraway land of Fond du Lac, and have lived in La Crosse since 2012 when I started at UWL. I’m a proud member of the Class of 2016, and loving father of three bass guitars.
My love of sports was born on August 20th, 1999, when I was taken to old County Stadium in Milwaukee to watch the Brewers lose 10-3 in a game where Barry Bonds hit two of his 762* home runs. I’ve followed along with the team ever since, and still have my commemorative balls from the opening game of Miller Park and the 2002 All Star Game above my desk! I used to be a HUGE Packer fan, but after 2014 season I’ve eased up a bit (things got a bit TOO intense!). Also I enjoy the Toronto Maple Leafs, and have a Tie Domi jersey hanging up next to my Bart Starr one in the ESPN La Crosse studio.
This is my fourth radio station I’ve worked for since starting in high school at WMDC in Mayville, Wisconsin. I’ve also worked in television, which is where I got my play-by-play start.
Fun Facts About Adam…
Favorite place to hang out when not working…
Up north at my cabin. Despite working in radio, I know that sometimes silence is golden.
Rush. Everything I know how to play/do on bass guitar is at least partially inspired by Geddy Lee’s style of playing. Power Windows is my favorite album of theirs, but if you want to start listening, I’d recommend Moving Pictures first.
Dirty Little Secret…
I have an out of this world recipe collection and am an award-winning chili cook.
What did you want to be as a kid?
Either a weatherman or a pro baseball player. My college baseball career may have ended after 24 hours, BUT I did used to record weather forecasts at a station I worked for, so I made it!
What is your favorite sports moment you’ve seen live?
When the Brewers won the NL Central in 2011. Staying after the Crew won their game against the Marlins that night and watching the Cubs-Cardinals game with everyone on the jumbotron was so surreal. I still have the confetti from the postgame celebration.
If they were to make a move about you, who would play you and what would the title be?
A young Dustin Hoffman; “Just Wing It”
Hey there...I am Andy Thursten. I bring you country music on the weekends. I am a fully bred Wisconsin boy that does not bleed the Green and Gold, or the Badger Red. I am sorry, but I do love the Milwaukee Brewers, so 1 out of 3 is not too bad.
As far as the music goes I love it all. Pop, classic rock, and of course country. If I had to pick my favorite artists it would have to go Jimmy Buffet, Zac Brown, Brad Paisley, and then Keith Urban.
Favorite place to hang out when not working:
Love going to concerts, bowling, sporting events, or feet up on the couch watching a good sporting event.
Dirty little secret:
I have a mobile DJ Service Called "Thirsty Times DJ"
Favorite Wisconsin Sports Team:
What did you want to be as a kid?
The next Michael Jordan.....
What cartoon character or superhero would you like to be and why?
Eric Cartman...who doesn't like cheesy poofs
If they were to make a movie about you, who would play you and what would the title be?
David Spade. And the Title would be "The Man In The Stands"
If you could meet anyone famous, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Chris Farley.. He was so funny, and time sooo short.
What is your weirdest quirk?
I always take three paper towels when I dry my hands, or 2 kleenex when i blow my nose.
What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
The one that came on it. I know no fun, but have no idea how to change it.
What are three things you can't live without?
sports, music, and my wife (brownie point answer)
